A Rear Style Makes The Fit

When it comes to selecting the perfect posing trunks for a bodybuilding competition, it is essential to consider all the factors that will impact the bodybuilder's overall look on stage. One of these factors is the size of the side straps, which can have a significant impact on the fit, coverage, and visual impact of the rear style.

Generally, posing trunks have side straps that are either wide or skinny in width. The width of the side straps can determine the amount of coverage provided to the glutes, with wider straps typically providing more coverage than narrower ones. The side strap size can also impact the visual appeal of the rear style, with narrower straps creating a sleek, streamlined appearance and wider straps adding a more substantial, more traditional look.

Once the side strap size is determined, bodybuilders can choose from four primary rear styles: the full cut, 3/4 cut, 1/2 cut, and 1/4 cut. Each of these styles offers varying degrees of coverage and exposure, making it essential to consider personal style preferences and competition rules when selecting the best option.

The full cut is the most conservative of all the styles, providing full coverage of the glutes while still offering ample support. This style is an excellent option for bodybuilders who prefer a traditional look or want to conceal their glutes.

The 3/4 (Brazilian) cut style offers slightly less coverage than the full cut, exposing a small portion of the lower glutes. This style provides a great balance between coverage and exposure, making it an ideal choice for bodybuilders who want to show a bit more skin without revealing too much.

The 1/2 (Rio) cut style exposes more of the glutes than the 3/4 cut while still providing support. This style is a popular option for bodybuilders who want to showcase their glutes without going too far.

The 1/4 (Tanga) cut style provides the least coverage of all the cut styles, revealing a significant portion of the glutes while still providing support. This style is perfect for bodybuilders with well-developed glutes who want to showcase their hard work.

Besides the four primary rear styles, bodybuilders can also opt for rear style add-ons, including the gathered back and cinched back styles. The gathered back style features a seam that runs down the center of the glutes to the crotch, creating a subtle gathering effect that enhances the appearance of the glutes. The cinched back style has a 1.5" - 2" seam that starts at top of the glutes, creating a "V" shape that accentuates the muscles.

When choosing a rear style, it is important to consider the competition rules. Some competitions have strict regulations on the style and coverage of posing trunks, so it is essential to review the rules and ensure that the chosen posing trunks meet the requirements.

Ultimately, choosing the right rear style for posing trunks is crucial for bodybuilders to showcase their physique on stage. By considering factors such as side strap size, personal style preferences, muscular development, and competition rules, bodybuilders can select posing trunks that not only make them feel confident and comfortable but also enhance their overall look on stage.
